A regular check-up and clean is the simplest way to keep your teeth for life. At Comfort Dental Gymea, we've looked after Sutherland Shire families since 1960. Many of our patients have been coming to us for three generations.

What happens at your check-up

A full examination of your teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, including an oral cancer screen.
X-rays when needed, so we can find decay between teeth and below the gumline before it hurts.
A professional scale and clean to remove plaque and hardened tartar that brushing can't reach.
A polish and fluoride to leave your teeth smooth and more resistant to decay.
A plan in plain English. If we find anything, we explain your options and costs before any treatment starts.

Most appointments take 45 to 60 minutes.

How often should you come in?

For most people, every six months. If you have gum disease, a history of decay, or you're pregnant or diabetic, we may suggest more often. Dr Michelle has a special interest in periodontal (gum) care.

How much does a check-up and clean cost?

The cost depends on whether you need X-rays. Many health funds cover a check-up and clean with little or no gap. Call us on (02) 9524 7646 for a quote.

Do I need X-rays every visit?

No. We take X-rays only when they are clinically needed, usually every one to two years for adults.

My gums bleed when I brush. Should I stop?

No. Bleeding gums are usually an early sign of gum inflammation. Keep brushing gently and book a check-up so we can find the cause.
